Toy Drive 2010 Recap, Thank You!

I know, I’ve said it on stage, I’ve said it on Twitter, and I’ve said it in person, but it begs repeating, THANK YOU! This weekend’s toy drive was a HUGE success and it’s thanks to all of you and your support!

I hope you were able to follow our @ManoaDNA twitter feed during the night as we were updating the event. If not, here’s a small recap of what happened. Stay tuned for Thursday’s “Nick in Photos” which will have a complete photographic recap of all these stories.

Just finished Sunrise on KGMB for the toy drive tomorrow night. Did you see it?

The week started off with morning show appearances on KHON, KGMB & KITV. Dad, Alex, Mark and I got up early for the entire week to make sure we got the word out about our little event. Pictured above is Alex on the “Sunrise” stage.

Two heavy boxes ready to go to the #dnatoy drive. Thank you online donations!

As a part of our event, people could donate to us even without attending. We were collecting toys via the internet, and by the time we were done, we had two HUGE boxes! Thank you all who donated online! Especially a couple of our friends from Japan!

No big deal, but we got the United States Marine Corp. as our bodyguards for the #dnatoy drive. Come down and thank them!

As the night began to pickup steam, so did the toy donations. We had the United States Marine Corp, and the 58th Cherry Blossom court on hand to help us with our collection efforts. Thanks goes out to both groups for volunteering their time and helping us collect toys that night.

Whew. I'm exhausted! Final count: 11 boxes. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

By the end of the night, we had 11 big boxes of toys for both charities and were exhausted! It was a coordinated effort between ManoaDNA, the Kani Ka Pila Grille, the Marine Corp, the Cherry Blossom Court and all of you. We were so proud by the end of the night, and were really excited for next year’s event!

Again though, I can’t thank you all for your support. Whether you donated in person, donated online, or are just a die-hard supporter of ManoaDNA, your love helped us get all of this done. I hope we have the chance to do this again next year, and hopefully we can once again make the holiday season better for Hawai’i families.

Now, I need a nap!
