Support My Cause!

First off, really happy that there were some good responses to last week’s question: “Where is your dream vacation?”

Now, onto regular business! I would first like to start off with compliments to a chef. I actually hate any inkling of acting like a “foodie,” but this chef is a friend of my family, so I feel ok tooting his horn. My friends and I were down at DKs one night, and they brought out seared ahi and fried ogo on top of a compressed watermelon cube. IT WAS AMAZING! Sweet, salty, melt in your mouth amazing. They told me it was a special they were running, so get there quick if you want to try it. Foodie section, done.

One of the most delicious bites I have ever had; seared ahi with fried ogo (seaweed) on top of a cube of compressed local watermelon.

Next, I’m happy to report that work has begun on our fourth studio album! I can’t give away too many details, but here’s a picture from one of the night sessions with Mark & Seann. They are great professionals, and make it very easy on us. That’s all I can give away for now, stay tuned!

As for the next highlight, I have to give a little back story. ManoaDNA has had their fair share of exciting nights, surprising outcomes, and playful audiences, but this night combined everything into one. It was a birthday party down at Lulus, and a bunch of our friends decided to stand up and dance for the last couple of songs. I can imagine the Lulus staff was a little overwhelmed, but they handled it beautifully and the party had a great time. Here’s a short video of what I mean…

Finally today, I’ll end with a plea. On Thursday, October 10th, my family’s business will be celebrating their 60th anniversary with a party. A couple of weeks ago, I was tasked with putting together this party, and am really proud of what has resulted and as a part of the celebration, we decided to benefit the Rehabilitation Hospital of the Pacific. It’s a really deserving place where people go after they get discharged from the hospital but need follow-up treatment like physical therapy. Thousands from Hawai’i and the Pacific rim benefit from this hospital, and we are trying our best to support them! Right now, tickets for the October 10th party are only $30, and include a night of music by Kapala and us, food from Side Street Inn, fashion shows by IOLANI Sportswear, and giveaways too numerous to mention. For complete details, visit: https://iolani60.eventbrite.com

My plea today is for your attendance. I hope you can make the party, as I really want to make a good donation to REHAB at the end of the night. If you can’t make it, there’s also a donation link in that page where you can still help out without attending!

Have a good weekend! See you soon!
ALOHA!
