Slow day …

Good morning!  It’s Tuesday and there is very little on my calendar except for rehearsal.  Outside of IOLANI, the only other activity on my agenda today is a “Pro” workout at the Queen’s Physician’s Office Building at noon.  The new 6th floor facility is used primarily for rehab, but can also be used by athletes to build strength and quickness.  The facility also has a Vespar(?) machine which is the only one of its kind in Hawai’i and was actually developed by NASA.  I don’t really understand how all the stuff works, but hey, if it can keep me playing squash for another 20 years, let’s do it!!

Had a great lunch at Stage with my buddy, Alan Okami, the president of KoAloha Ukulele yesterday. I always enjoy sitting down and talking story with him, especially since we both operate family businesses.   I was happy to hear that KoAloha was nominated for SBA’s Family-owned Business of the Year Award … such a great honor and so deserving!  I’d like to send a huge “CONGRATULATIONS!” out to Alan, his family, and the great staff at KoAloha for a job well done!

I’ve been listening to some of Alex’s latest demos recently and the stuff is pretty good!  He continues to show his growth and maturity as a songwriter and I think you guys will be pleasantly surprised …

Aloha, “D”
