Weekend recap …

Wassup, my friends … hope you’re all having a wonderful week!  Boy, was that some weird weather over the weekend or what … it went from hot, humid, and voggy to cool, humid, and rainy.  Very strange.  But it was party time down at Lulu’s and Kani Ka Pila where many of our family and friends from both the sides of the ocean gathered to enjoy some great music, food, and drink.  I also wanted to wish my Japan friends a very belated “Happy Golden Week” – I know a lot of them were in Hawai’i last week enjoying the holiday.   Mahalo for coming by to visit us!  Also want to send a shout out to our pal, Aloha Joe, who stopped by KKPG to say hi … Aloha Joe has been a very strong supporter of Hawaii’s music via his radio show on the mainland …

Oh yeah .. you guys remember the avocado tree in our backyard?  As you know, it’s really old and termite-eaten so I finally made the difficult decision to cut it down.  I borrowed a friend’s chain saw and went to work cutting the high branches first, then the mid-level ones, and finally the big main branches.  It was a huge task, especially since the tree was big and tall and I had no idea what I was doing.  By the time I quit exhausted and sore, all that remained was the main trunk and a couple of large and small branch stumps … figured I’d attack those later.  Well, lo and behold … I went out yesterday and there’s a ton of new baby branches sprouting from the remaining stumps!  But most surprising of all, are the baby avocados hanging from them!  Must be a sign that this old tree ain’t ready for the green waste dumpster yet!

And so, we begin another week of work & play here in paradise … make it a good one!

Aloha, “D”
