Another wet morning in the valley … it’s been pretty much raining every day for over a week. I had a great weekend since we were back performing at our regular gigs at Lulu’s and Kani Ka Pila Grille … it’s always great to be back doing something I truly enjoy. My Saturday at KKPG was made extra special when an elderly gentleman on crutches suddenly got up from his table and started dancing to one of our songs. He was part of a group Australians that were visiting and said that this was the first time he had gotten the urge to dance since having major health problems years ago. He had tears in his eyes as he told us how the music had given him a tremendous spiritual lift, and I felt so humbled by this man who had been through so much and still had such a zest for life.  Suddenly, my own problems seemed so distant and trivial …
Unfortunately for our UH Warriors, however, it looks like their problems are just starting after being soundly beaten by Nevada 69-24, in its first Mountain West football game Saturday night. But even though they lost badly, I still believe that the Warriors have the potential to become a pretty decent football team in a couple of years … especially under new coach Norm Chow. Only time will tell, I guess ..
And it’s also the last week of September and October is right around the corner. These final 3 months of 2012 are going to be extremely busy and stressful for me, both with ‘IOLANI and ManoaDNA. The boys and I have trips to Japan scheduled for October (Kyushu) and November (Sapporo, Osaka, Nagoya, and Tokyo) and then we’re home for the holidays with special Christmas and New Year’s performances. We’re also busy working on a new CD, so the next few weeks are going to be REALLY hectic.
As always, I want to thank all of you who have continued to support us both here and abroad … it really makes all the hard work and effort totally worth it!
Aloha, “D”
