It’s HOT!!

Ugh … the winds turned southerly yesterday and the hot, sticky weather has arrived!  It was really hot Friday night at Lulu’s … I wore one of our light rayon shirts thinking I’d be nice & cool.  Wrong!  Should’ve worn one of our IO-Sport shirts … even though the fabric is slightly heavier than rayon or cotton, it’s dry fit and anti-microbial (no B.O.) so you stay cool and dry.  At Lulu’s, we received some very cool omiyage from a couple of our fans from Japan … Jagabee (potato snack) and yes … Sapporo Classic beer!!  Woohooo!!!  You can only get it in Hokkaido (I think) and it’s super ono-licious!  Mahalo!

It was also great to be back at Kani Ka Pila last night … I hadn’t realized that we hadn’t performed there for almost a month because of travel and other events.  We had a great crowd too … nice mix of locals along with visitors from Japan, Australia, England, and Canada.  Mahalo to Aunty Pat for the awesome hula!

It’s going to be a busy Sunday for us … Carla returns from Japan this afternoon, and ManoaDNA is performing at the 42nd Annual Ukulele Festival down at Kapiolani Park.  It’s a great event, and the boys and I are really looking forward to it since the last time we performed there was a few years ago.  We always missed it because we were usually in Japan at this time sweating our butts off!  It’ll be great to see our good friends, Roy & Kathy Sakuma, the founder’s of the festival along with all their staff.  It’ll also be nice to see Grammy Award-winning singer James Ingram and his family again … I’ll always remember James taking the time to meet with Alex years ago to share his experiences and advice with Alex.  Great guy …

So, off we go … have an  AWESOME Sunday, my friends!

Aloha, “D”
