‘Morning, peeps.
The Leftys – Alex, Mark, and Seann – are back at Lulu’s tonight. A bunch of us are going down there to party with them including the “Yamaguchi Herd” (that was Lori’s term) from the Bay Area who just arrived in town. ManoaDNA is not performing tonight (obviously!) but we’ll be back in action next Wednesday for the Wildest Show at the Honolulu Zoo. Performance is from 6 to 7pm and gates open at 4:30pm (better check the zoo’s website because you know how good I am with dates and times! hahaha!).
Played golf with my Thursday degenerates yesterday … didn’t shoot too badly (84) but still lost to everyone. Ironically, the only guy I beat was professional golfing great Dave Eichelberger because his handicap is a +3 and he had to give me 14 strokes! Ahhh .. handicap strokes – the “Great Equalizer”! Couldn’t stick around for the usual “19th Hole” refreshments afterward since Carla and I had to meet some friends in Waikiki for dinner that evening. We went to a place called Il Lupino Trattoria which is located in the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center … nice outside seating area, but a bit too noisy inside. The food was pretty good – I had the mushroom risotto and Carla had the veal. Our server was pleasant and very attentive but there were a couple of things that sort of put a damper on the evening – first, the guy who served us our salads was rude to Carla … really pissed me and my friends off. Second, our order took FOREVER to come … I mean, this was not fine dining by any means and yet it took us over 3 hours to get through our meal … and we even skipped dessert! I have to say, though, that the manager and our server were fabulous … not only were they very apologetic for the delays, but they even bought us a nice bottle of wine. They actually saved the evening! Still, I haven’t decided whether I want go back there again … especially since I hate going into Waikiki in the first place!
Aloha, “D”
