July 4th – Independence Day!

Aloha, friends!

Happy Fourth of July to all of you out in blog land!  Many of you are probably planning on spending the holiday with family, barbecuing, and watching one of the many fireworks displays in your area – I think we have five or six on O’ahu tonight!  We plan to stay in and enjoy a relaxing day doing absolutely nothing – no appointments, meetings, rehearsals, or performances – nada!  Of course, I may try to sneak in a game of squash if possible …

We were back at the Sheraton Waikiki last night to perform for another group from the same Gibralter company of Japan who we played for last week.  Again, there were must have been about a thousand people packed into the main ballroom in what was another full-on production.  These guys obviously spared no expense because everything was top-notch – from the video and sound systems to the teams that kept everything running smoothly and professionally.  We always enjoy working with good sound and stage technicians because it allows us to focus all of our energies on the performance and audience without having to worry about how we sound or look.  Mahalo to Randy for the great sound, and to all the organizers for making this a wonderful event to be a part of!

So now I’m off for the rest of the week since the boys will be out of town this weekend.  Next Wednesday, 7/11, we’ll be performing at The Wildest Show in Town at the Honolulu Zoo from 6-7pm.  Then on Saturday, 7/14, IOLANI and my family will be honored as the recipients of this year’s Hawai’i Japanese Chamber of Commerce’s Generational Award at their annual banquet to be held at the Hilton Hawaiian Village.  We’re extremely proud and humbled to be presented with this award and I only wish that my dad was alive today to enjoy the moment with us!

Have a great July 4th holiday, everyone!

Aloha, “D”
