It’s raining again this morning and I heard a dripping sound behind the wall in our kitchen. Sounds like there may be a leak somewhere in our roof … FRICK! Trying to find a roof leak is like trying to find a needle in a haystack … may have to call in the professionals for this one.
Yesterday, we spent the late afternoon and early evening at Island Sound Studios in Hawai’i Kai (the old AVEX) recording a jingle for Suntory. Being back in the studio brought back a flood of memories from our past recording sessions there. Producing a CD is hard work – not only does it take a huge amount of time and preparation, but it’s also physically very demanding. Everything has to be perfect and precise – much more so than for a regular performance. All the little miscues that normally go unnoticed are now magnified ten-fold and stick out like sore thumbs. It’s all good, though, because they can now be corrected which will ultimately improve our overall sound quality. Still … it’s a lot of hard work! I want to send a big mahalo to Kaz and Watanabe-san for choosing us to do this project, and to bruddah Gaylord for being our engineer …
Off to IOLANI this morning for a couple of meetings … then we’re back at the Sheraton Waikiki tonight for another big corporate event. No Hyatt tomorrow night since it’s the 4th of July …
Aloha, “D”
