Happy July, everyone!

‘Morning, peeps!

It’s official … summer is now here!  Lots of stuff going on this week including the July 4th holiday which should be a blast (literally!).  Hope you guys also had a great weekend … I had a nice, restful Sunday after performing for 4 straight nights!  We took my mom to brunch at Waialae yesterday morning and boy, the place was packed … there are still lots of graduation parties going on and people tell me that August will be just as busy!

Friday night at Lulu’s was a blast with a lot of our fans from Japan and the mainland in town, and on Saturday we performed at a graduation event up at the Pearl CC.  Mahalo to Jamie and her parents, Craig and Michelle, for allowing us to be a part of their special evening.

Today we’re in the studio recording a commercial jingle for a Suntory TV ad in Japan, and then on Tuesday we’re back at the Sheraton Waikiki for another big event put on by the same Japanese corporate client who we performed for last Thursday.  The rest of the week will be pretty quiet for me since Alex & the Leftys will be at Lulu’s on Friday, and then the boys are gone that weekend.  I’m also looking forward to a reunion with some of our pals from the Bay Area who are coming into town this week.  We were all part of Project Aloha, a joint San Francisco-Hawaii goodwill delegation that traveled to the Tohoku region in Japan last October and was also the first foreign delegation to visit Iwaki City in Fukushima, the region struck by the nuclear plant disaster.

Hey .. and next week Wednesday, July 11th, we’ll be at the zoo for the annual Wildest Show in Town concert series.  Gates open at 4pm (I think) and we’ll be performing from 6 to 7pm.  It’s always a great event for families, so bring your beach chairs, coolers and blankets and enjoy some great music in one of  Waikiki’s most beautiful settings!

Aloha, “D”
