It’s Aloha Friday … again!

Happy Aloha Friday, my friends!

Another weekend is upon us and I can’t believe that July is right around the corner – the official start of summer!  As I said before, it seems that the older I get the faster the years fly by … almost like a dream.  I feel like my life is way busier now than it was 20 years ago, which is a good thing I guess.  Kinda scary, though, because it’s still picking up speed and is showing no signs of slowing down!  Oh well, gotta enjoy the ride while I still can, right?

We performed for a large Japan corporate convention last night at the Sheraton Waikiki.  There must have been over a thousand attendees along with full sound, video, and stage entertainment for the guests.  There was even a smoke machine during our performance which made things sort of surreal, but hey – whatever works!  Anyway, at the end of our set a group of company execs came on stage to perform “Aloha Oe” with us, having learned how to play it on the ukulele just that afternoon.  And since it was hard for them to concentrate on playing their instruments and sing at the same time, they asked me to sing the verse for them … which wasn’t a problem except that it was in the key of “C” which is right at the high and low end of my vocal range!  I ended up doing the high-pitched version since I sounded like Lurch from the Addams Family when I tried to sing it low.  Hahaha!  It all came out good in the end, though, and everyone had a great time …

We’ll be back at Lulu’s tonight so come on down for some great pau hana!  Have a great weekend, all!

Aloha, “D”
