Hinamatsuri!

Happy Aloha Friday!

How y’all doing this fine morning?  Just had my first mug of onolicious Dunkin’ Donuts coffee and the caffeine is already starting to kick in … yeah, baybeeee!!  It’s Friday again – boy, this week went by fast!  So let’s see … what do I have to share with you guys … oh yeah, it’s Girls Day or Hinamatsuri in Japan today!  Actually, this holiday is on Saturday, March 3rd, but since it’s already “tomorrow” in Japan (19 hours ahead), I’d like to wish all of our girl “buddies” a very “Happy Girls Day!” and hope you all enjoy this very special day!

The annual Honolulu Festival is happening this weekend so there’ll be lots going on at both the convention center and Waikiki.  ManoaDNA will be performing tomorrow at the cultural fair and also at the Friendship Gala that evening.  We’re very honored to be selected as a featured performer again … our last appearance at the festival was for their 15th anniversary celebration.   I want to send a big mahalo out to the festival committee for inviting us to participate again this year!

It’s gonna be a busy Friday too .. we have an interview, followed by a sound check at the convention center, and then it’s pau hana at Lulu’s.  Last night we performed at a sold-out fundraiser for the UH Shidler School of Business over at the Kahala Hotel.  Lots of people and tons of fun!  It was especially refreshing after the horrible round of golf I shot yesterday … a 90!  Naturally, I lost all my bets and had to endure merciless ragging from my fellow degenerates!  At least the night ended on a good note!  After the fundraiser, Mark and I dropped in at Paesano’s in Manoa where I ordered the angel hair pasta with pesto sauce and chicken meatballs.  I hadn’t ordered it in quite a while and had forgotten how good it was … very basic, but such a great blend of flavors!  Also had a glass of red called Uppercut … we normally order the Domaine Napa but decided to try Uppercut based on our server, Lucy’s, recommendation and it was quite good!  Make sure to ask for Lucy when you go there … she’s the best and really makes everyone feel special!

Aloha, “D”
