APEC farewell party

Aloha, friends!

The APEC farewell party at the Hawai’i Convention Center last night was a nice affair.  It was hosted by the APEC host committee to thank all the volunteers who worked long and hard to make the convention an international success.  Entertainment was provided by us, Brother Noland & his band, and Kawika Trask. (Interesting mix, huh?)  Mahalo to the APEC guys for inviting us … and a very special mahalo to my good friend, Gregg Yamanaka, CEO of APEC, for a job well done!

Tonight we’re at the Hilton Hawaiian Village to perform at a reception for Japan professional baseball’s Chunichi Dragons (Central League).  Coincidentally, members of the Daiei Hawks (Pacific League) are coming to IOLANI on Kona Street to shoot a video in our store this afternoon!  How cool is that?!!  The boys & I visited the Hawks stadium in Fukuoka during a recent visit there (I think they were the Softbank Hawks back then) and I remember taking this photo of a very strange looking “hawk” at a park next to the stadium.

Aloha, “D”
