“Off again!” continued ….

Aloha, everyone!

Sorry, can’t talk … gotta catch a flight to Kaua’i this morning to attend my uncle’s funeral in Eleele.  Fill you guys in later …

… Hey, I’m back!  It’s now Sunday morning and I can’t believe I finally have a day off!  It’s been non-stop all week with early morning TV appearances, numerous meetings, and tons of errands … not to mention nightly gigs.  I’m glad I can finally get some rest and fight this nagging cold that I’ve had for while.  I went to over to Andy’s in Manoa to get us some lunch and picked up a couple of turkey & avocado sandwiches, a cup of chicken gumbo soup, some muffins, and a couple containers of coconut water.  The coconut water is great for re-hydrating the body, especially after a hard night of partying or working out.

Yesterday morning, I took my sister & mom to Kaua’i to attend my uncle’s funeral services in Eleele.  Although it was a sad occasion, it was nice to see all of our Kaua’i family together along with some old family friends that I hadn’t seen in decades.  After the services were over, I took my mom to the Hanapepe church where my some of my dad’s ashes are interred.  After that we headed back to the airport to catch our flight back to Honolulu.

Last night was our 3rd annual “Boys & Their Toys” donation drive for Toys For Tots down at Gordon Biersch and boy, did it pour!  I mean, it rained like there was no tomorrow, putting a damper on the evening’s festivities.  We must be jinxed because the same thing happened there during our last CD release party when we got rained out and had to move everything inside.  But even with all the rain, last night’s event was a great success as we still managed to raise a lot of toy and money donations for the charity.  Those who did stick around and brave the weather enjoyed some great entertainment by Herb Ohta Jr. & Jon Yamasato, Brother Noland, and ManoaDNA.  I want to thank all of our friends and family who came down to help us – Carla, Andie, Sarah, Pat, Linda, Jr., Jon, Noland, Mark, and Seann – along with our corporate partners – Hawaiian Airlines, Hyatt, Westin, Oakley, KoAloha Ukulele, Hoshino-san of JTB, Okubo-san of JAL, Ichikura-san, and numerous others – for their generous donations of prizes for our giveaways!  We hope to put on an even bigger event next year … and I promise we will not be rained out again!

Aloha, “D”
