Peaceful Sunday

I can’t believe I did it again … it’s 5:30am on Sunday morning and I’m wide awake!  It’s probably because I ate after I got home from Kani Ka Pila last night and I usually don’t sleep well after eating that late.  It’s still dark outside and it’s so quiet that you can almost hear a pin drop.  There’s a slight chill in the air and I can hear an occasional rooster crowing back in the valley … probably up by the old Paradise Park.  I just brewed a fresh pot of Dunkin’ Donuts coffee so I think I’m going to sit out on our lanai and watch the sun come up over our beautiful mountains.  Ahhh … paradise!

Alex and I performed at Kani Ka Pila last night since Nick decided to take the night off, so it was Manoa”D and A” instead of ManoaDNA.  Hahaha!  We actually sounded pretty decent although some of the harmonies were a bit of a challenge.  Since Nick wasn’t there, we all ended up singing different parts on the harmonies and poor Mark had to jump in cold turkey!  We’d be chugging right along, then get to a chorus and suddenly remember that we had different parts.  Boy, talk about panic … and I’ll bet the looks on our faces were priceless!

I’ve got my monthly golf outing with my Selohssa Golf Club out at Olomana today.  I wasn’t able to play this past Thursday with my gang because we were on Kaua’i so I hope my swing isn’t too wild today.  I always enjoy Olomana because it’s not a difficult course and I always shoot in the low 80’s or high 70’s … and now that I’ve said that, I probably just jinxed myself and will end up shooting a hundred!  Oh well, after a couple of brewskies it’ll all be fine …

Also have to start getting ready for our return to Japan next week.  The excitement is already starting to build for me, especially since this will be a very special trip for me and the boys.  More on that later …

Aloha, “D”
