Final performances for July

‘Morning, peeps!  I can’t believe it’s Friday already … this has been a really short week, especially since Monday was a holiday.  I’ve been extremely busy the past couple of days – performing with ManoaDNA at the Wildest Show concert over at the Honolulu Zoo on Wednesday, and then at the memorial service for our good friend, Gary Kondo, last night at the Waialae Country Club.  The Wildest Show was a lot of fun and was one of the few venues where we can really cut loose with a full band.  I want to thank Roy Sakuma and the Honolulu Zoo for allowing us to participate again this year, and also to Woody Barboza who always does a great job on sound!  This was also the “official” debut of our new song, FEEL THE LIGHT, which is dedicated to the victims of Japan’s recent earthquake and tsunami tragedy.   It will be available via download and CD with all proceeds going towards the disaster relief funds.

We’re also getting ready to go back up to Japan soon, and I’m already dreading the heat and humidity of their summer season.  I’m trying to pack light with as much dri-fit clothes as possible, but it’s almost impossible since our performance clothes takes up much of the luggage space and weight.  And because we’ll be preparing for our trip, this will be our last weekend of performances for both Lulu’s and Kani Ka Pila until August although Alex and I will be joining Bruce Shimabukuro at his CD release party over at Gordon Biersch next Sunday the 17th before we leave.

Oh, oh .. I hear yelling and screaming in the front yard which probably means that the puppies have gotten loose .. again!  Have a great “Aloha Friday” everyone!

Aloha, “D”
