Happy 4th of July!

It’s the 4th of July holiday here in the U.S. and I plan on doing absolutely NOTHING today!  Even our IOLANI on Kona St. store is closed today, and because ManoaDNA is also done with its weekend performances, this truly is a day off for my family!  I was so tired after our gig last night that I crashed out soon after getting home and didn’t wake up til 7:30am … which is unusual for me since I normally wake up at around 5 to 6 am …

In any case, we have another busy week ahead … we open up the summer concert series, Wildest Show, over at the Honolulu Zoo this Wednesday, July 6th, and will be performing from 6 to 7pm.  On Thursday, we’ll be helping out at my good friend Gary Kondo’s memorial services at Waialae … Gary was not only my golfing buddy, but was also one of the major reasons why ManoaDNA was formed.  It’s a long story, but suffice to say that if it weren’t for him ManoaDNA would not be here today.  On Friday we perform at Lulu’s, and on Saturday we have a private function before heading down to Kani Ka Pila in the evening.  And if that weren’t enough, we’re also in the midst of preparing to go back up to Japan in a couple of weeks …

Oh, yeah … after getting home last night I noticed feathers all over the floor near our back door.  Sure enough, the puppies had caught a bird and brought it inside the house – needless to say it didn’t survive and I was told that it created quite a mess!  I guess the mutts were getting tired of the same old canned dog food …

Aloha, “D”
