Happy (belated) Father’s Day!

Gooooooood morning, all!  I can’t believe I haven’t blogged since last Thursday … boy, am I getting lazy!  I just haven’t been inspired too much lately, maybe because there hasn’t been a lot of good news to share.  In any case, I’m back so here goes ….

Hope you all had a wonderful Father’s Day!  I was treated to a great homemade breakfast prepared by Carla & the boys – waffles, eggs, bacon, portugese sausage, fresh fruit, and of course … piping hot Dunkin’ Donuts coffee!  Afterward, the boys & I watched the final round of the U.S. Open golf tournament which I was happy to see Rory McElroy win because he was the leader since the opening round and seems like a very classy kid.   And speaking of golf, I had a horrible round last week during my regular Thursday afternoon outing.  We had quite a large group since we were also gathered that day to pay tribute to our fallen leader, Gary Kondo, who passed away the week before.  Then on Saturday, I attempted once again to get my game back on track and was actually able to keep the ball in play … most of the time.  Game still sucks, though ….

We had a great time at Lulu’s and Kani Ka Pila Grille over the weekend with lots of friends and family coming down to see us.  Saturday night at the ‘Grille was packed … Eddie Kamae and his wife, Myrna, dropped by to check us out and Eddie even joined MDNA on stage for a couple of awesome jams!  That guy is truly one of Hawai’i’s treasures and we were so honored to share the stage with him that night!  I also want to say mahalo to Jerome Koko of the Makaha Sons who also dropped by with his wife, and to former NBA all-star Larry Johnson, who graciously allowed all of us to have photos taken with him.  My golf buddy, Sam Guerrero and his lovely wife, Moana, were also there with family and friends and I even got him up on stage to sing a couple of songs.  You were great, Sam, but next time take your hands out of your pockets … you looked like you were waiting for the bus!  Hahaha!

Aloha, “D”
