Memorial Weekend!

Happy Aloha Friday, peeps!  It’s also the start of the Memorial Weekend and the Na Hoku Festival so expect the beaches, parks, and roads to be packed!  We performed at the Na Hoku Festival’s opening media party yesterday along with Amy, Brother Noland, the DeLima Ohana, and others, over at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel’s Monarch Room.  After that, I had to attend one meeting before heading on over to join my Thursday group for our weekly round of golf at Waialae.  We had a great time as always, and it was a good thing that my partner’s game was on because my game still sucks!  Oh well, at least I can count on my handicap going up with all these bad scores that I’ve been posting lately …

Oh yeah … Lulu’s will be closed tonight for a private party, although we’re still scheduled to be performing there.  We were just notified of this yesterday and want to apologize to all of our ohana and friends who were planning on coming down tonight.  I also want to apologize to many of our fans who are in town for the Na Hoku Festival and wanted to come and see us perform.  Since we won’t be a Kani Ka Pila tomorrow night due to a scheduling conflict, it looks like we may not get to see many of them at all … bummer!!

I stopped off at Rainbow Drive-Inn last night on my home to pick up dinner and got my favorite mahimahi plate.  It’s truly a “coronary nightmare” – fried filets of mahimahi, two scoops of rice, a scoop of macaroni salad, all covered with brown gravy – of course, I had to have my extra tartar sauce too!  Yummy!

Aloha, “D”
