Honolulu Festival benefit concert …

It’s Sunday afternoon, and the boys and I are getting ready to perform along with Jake Shimabukuro down at the Waikiki Beachwalk.   The organizers of the Honolulu Festival put this concert together after the Nagaoka fireworks show was canceled out of respect for the earthquake and tsunami victims.  It must be very hard for many of the participants from Japan to be here while their country is suffering so, and we can only hope and pray that their loved ones are safe.  Gotta run now … I’ll continue this when I get back to tonight or tomorrow morning – sorry!

GOOD MORING!!  Well, I finally got home around midnight so I obviously wasn’t in any mood to finish yesterday’s blog.  Anyway, the Honolulu Festival concert on the Waikiki Beachwalk was awesome!  We were honored to be asked to participate in this event with our friend, Jake – a very talented guy with a huge heart!  It was an emotional evening filled with music and lots of aloha … I spent a lot of time talking with many of our Japan visitors, listening to their stories and sharing their tears.  Mahalo to Jake and the Honolulu Festival organizers and sponsors for allowing us to be a part of this wonderful tribute!  Also want to send a special mahalo to Milan Bertosa, one of Hawai’i’s top recording engineers who volunteered to help mix the sound last night …

Afterward, we all went to our favorite local late-night eatery – LikeLike Drive-Inn – for some fried rice, eggs, and portugese sausage.  Ahhh … nothing like a little heartburn before bedtime!

Aloha, “D”

p.s. – mahalo to Keiko for these photos!  BTW … my iPhone camera sucks!
