I can tell that winter is quickly approaching … it’s raining again and there’s a slight chill in the air! I love this time of year because it means that Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are just around the corner. And even though it’s hard to think of the holidays during these tough economic times, I know that they’ll provide much-needed joy and relief to all of us!
And since yesterday was Election Day here in the U.S.A., everyone went to the polls to vote for their favorite candidate. And since the polls closed at 6pm and I’m usually very last-minute, I finally stopped in Manoa to drop off our absentee ballots at 5:15pm. Now here’s where it gets weird .. I was dropping off absentee ballots which are normally mailed in and the person at the polling desk tells me that she has to call in to validate our names. Huh?!? I ended up waiting about a half hour for them to confirm that Carla & I were eligible to vote … well duh, how else would we have been sent the ballots in the first place?! I shouldn’t complain though, because these officials were all hard-working volunteers who probably spent the whole day dealing with bitchy people like me! Mahalo, you guys!
Also got to spend a nice quiet evening at home last night … Linda ordered some Thai food take-out from Bangkok Chef – red & yellow curries with sticky rice, pad thai noodles, and spring rolls, and we all spent the evening watching TV, stuffing our faces, and fending off hungry puppies! TV was kinda boring though, because some of our favorite shows were preempted due to the election coverage … damn politicians!!
Aloha, “D”
