‘Morning! Weird night at Lulu’s … we played half the night at a whisper because a party of 10 tone-deaf deadbeats was seated right next to us and complained that the music was too loud. HELLO, this is Lulu’s .. it’s a fun & noisy place and it doesn’t help that you guys were seated right in front of the speaker! I’ll never understand why these groups are always seated right next to us while those who come to listen to our music are seated out in Siberia … I just don’t get it. I have a suggestion – if you’re seeking a nice quiet dining experience, go grab a mixed plate at Rainbows and have a picnic under the stars in Kapiolani Park. There you can enjoy quiet conversations while fending off some of the local park nut cases. Oh, and speaking of nut cases … during our last set there was a woman sitting at the far end of the bar screaming all kinds of cool stuff – like she was the president of the United States, the Mafia was looking for her, her spaceship was double-parked, all liberally laced with 4-letter expletives … awesome! Well, the cops came and made her leave (boo!) whereby she then continued her tirade outside on the sidewalk. By the time we were done, she had accumulated quite a crowd including a fire engine crew and even more police! She should have put out a tip jar because she would have made some serious coin with her sidewalk extravaganza!
Ok, enough of the bad stuff … I’d like to say mahalo to everyone who came to Lulu’s last night including Chino, Yumi, Hiroaki, Miki, Yumi, Sae, Shion, Yukari, Dave, Robyn, Melissa, and the rest of the gang. I’m sorry you had to endure the craziness, and I hope your backs are ok from having to lean forward to try and hear us. You guys are the best!
No Kani Ka Pila tonight so I’m going to a BBQ at the KoAloha Ukulele factory. Herb Ohta Jr. and the Okami family were kind enough to invite Carla & I so we’re going to join them and some of their guests from Japan for some ono-licious grinds.   It’s gonna be a lot of fun and I hope Jr.’s going to make his great BBQ ribs again (hint, hint!) …
Aloha, “D”
