Edith & Keiji Day!

October 4th, 2008 was dedicated “Edith & Keiji Kawakami” day here in the city of Honolulu. The city council and mayor Mufi Hanneman proclaimed this in honor of their hard work and dedication to the community of Honolulu.

I know for a fact, that Gramma and Grampa could care less about awards & proclamations, but I used it as an excuse to get the family together for a meal & some beer. The beer for a good fall barbecue? Sam Adam’s October Fest!

Delicious beer, and a perfect pairing for the grilled delights!

MEAT ON THE GRILL!

Earlier in the day, I tried to make some kabocha, but failed. It turned out too mushy and I ended up having mashed pumpkins instead of kabocha chunks. Sad. If anyone knows a good simple kabocha recipe, I’m all ears!

Other than the kabocha incident, it was a great night with the family, and I was glad everyone could make it. Happy E&K DAY!

  1. Why wasn’t I invited??? If you enjoy Sam’s Octoberfest, you should join me on my quest to find some Widmer Okto! I had some at bar35, it was delicious!
