Awesome day!

Aloha kakahiaka, all!  I had such a GREAT birthday yesterday!  Mahalo to all of you for your beautiful birthday wishes & thoughts … it really made my day!   I had lunch at Mariposa yesterday with Carla and our good friend, Susan Sunderland.  We must have looked like first-timers because we took so many photos of our food dishes!  I ordered the lobster club sandwich, Carla had the pan-roasted chicken with raspberry sauce, and Susan had the Greek salad – so ONO!  Mahalo for the wonderful lunch, Susan!

My lobster club sandwich w/ sweet potato fries - YUMMMM!

Last night, Alex brought over my favorite carnitas (roast pork) from Serg’s Mexican Kitchen here in Manoa and I enjoyed a nice quiet dinner with my ohana … a great way to end a wonderful day!  Oh yeah .. on ManoaDNA’s last Japan tour, I showed you guys my new white Casio watch.  Well, the boys and our puppies got me another one for my b’day – a shiny new black one (check out the pic!)!  I also want to thank the Noyles for the evil chocolates 😉 and to Sarah for the awesome chocolate spring rolls (hmmmm, is there a chocolate theme somewhere here???) Mahalo, guys!

I also got a very nice birthday card from Chie-chan & Hamoa-chan, the two keiki

My new shiny black G-Shock!

dancers from kumu hula Sandii’s Tokyo halau who are featured in Hula Le’a magazine’s Keiki Hula Competition video for our song “ALOHA YOU – KIZUNA”.  Along with the card, Chie-chan sent me a miniature wind chime which I hung up in our house … so delicate & beautiful!  Mahalo, keiki!

I’m golfing this afternoon since it’s Thursday, so wish me luck!  We have a big group coming out today so I need to bring my “A” game or else I’ll be broke this weekend!  I haven’t played squash for over a week, so my wrist is feeling a little better – but my left elbow is still pretty sore.  Oh well ….

ManoaDNA is performing for a private function tomorrow night so we won’t be at Lulu’s … but Alex, I, and Mark will be at Kani Ka Pila on Saturday – Nick is still on the mainland and returns on Sunday.

Peace out, “D”

A beautiful birthday chime from Chie-chan!

  1. ‘Twas fun yesterday. Wish I could post photos of the sorbet ice teas, Carla’s ono chicken dish, and the fab dessert. Got great shots, worthy of Gourmet magazine. OK, maybe not Gourmet, but it’s nice. The dessert was delightful, topped by Neiman Marcus signature butterfly wafer. Wow! Hana hou.

    • They always do such a good job, and I love their popovers! Thanks for the birthday treat … and yes, hana hou – soon!
