Aloha, my friends! We are having a ball here in Fukuoka! This is our first trip here and we’ve been experiencing all the wonderful things (ie, food!) which this city has to offer! We’ve eaten Hakata ramen at Ippu-Do, tempura & fried rice at a yatai (street vendor), Indian food at our favorite Nanak restaurant, and oishii tonkatsu (can’t remember the restaurant’s name, though!). We also performed for the first time here this afternoon, and saw some familiar faces in the audience! Our friends Nao (Hiroshima) and Masako (Tokyo) were there to cheer us on, and I hope to see Misa-san (just moved back from Hawai’i) tomorrow too! We have a very busy day tomorrow with a radio interview and 3 short performances which includes a soundcheck at 7AM!!
Yesterday, we paid a courtesy visit to the Fukuoka newspaper, Nishinippon Shimbun, and met with Mr. Takao Kawasaki, its president. We also met with Fukuoka’s Governor Aso at his office and performed “OUR HAWAI’I” for him. It was so cool .. we met in the main conference room with all the press and TV cameras present, and our assigned seating even had our name tags! What a great experience for me & the boys! Mahalo to everyone who made this all possible!
Tomorrow, there’s supposed to be a huge fireworks festival here so everyone’s planning on going to see it. I don’t know if I’ll have the energy to go and watch it .. especially after our busy day! I definitely plan to have a few nama beerus to celebrate, though! 🙂
Oh, and by the way … I’m sorry if I haven’t been posting pics, but I have no clue how to do it with my iPad! I will post them after we return to Hawai’i, so please stay tuned!
Aloha, “D”
