Aloha, everybody! I took a break from writing my blog yesterday since it was the Kamehameha Day state holiday, so I apologize to all of you who were expecting to see it.
First of all, it was a calm night at Lulu’s last night which was actually kind of nice since I could hear our sound monitors a lot better. Usually the place is so noisy that it’s difficult to hear what you’re playing. We found out later that Kalakaua Ave. was closed in preparation for this morning’s Kamehameha Day parade in Waikiki, so the street crowds were pretty light on our end. We had a nice time though, and want to thank all of our friends who came to see us – especially hula dancers Mayu and Miki from Hiroshima who we met in May during our Golden Week tour. Also, a big mahalo to our pals, Misa, Mina, Sae, Shion, Mark, Sherri, Kale, Anna, and my sister, Pat, for their very loud support!
Oh yeah … I stopped by Zippy’s afterward to pick up a chili and frank plate and boy, was it good! Nothing like grinding a good, local plate lunch after a long night of music and partying!
My wrist seems to be getting a little better although I still can’t play squash with it. I did play golf on Thursday and didn’t have any pain until I hit the ground or tried to get out of a sand trap. But when I did .. OMG, I thought my head would explode because it hurt so much!! OUCH!!!
Aloha, “D”
