It’s Memorial Day .. a time to reflect on those who are no longer with us, but who are still cherished in our memories. I especially think about my dad who passed away a little over a year ago, and how much of an influence he was on my life. He truly was a great man – not only in deeds, but for what his generation and the generations before did and stood for. We wouldn’t be the great nation that we are today if not for their great commitment and sacrifice. And now, it’s our turn to step up to the plate and I only hope that we can measure up to their standard!
My wrist still hurts like hell … I tried playing squash yesterday but it still hurt when I tried to hit certain shots. It feels like I strained a tendon (I hope!) so I may have to give it a rest for a week or two.
I went swimming at Kahala beach the other day for the first time in months … I can’t describe how great it felt to be back in the ocean! I really enjoy the ocean because it not only heals the body & soul, but it re-energizes me for the what lies ahead … and believe me, ManoaDNA definitely has a lot of work to do in the coming months! I also stopped by Coco Ichibanya to pick up some chicken katsu curry for dinner – very ono! My friend, Mrs. Ohta, the owner of the Tokyo nightclub, Birdland, told me that she heard that baseball superstar, Ichiro Suzuki, ate curry every morning. Rumor has it that the spices in the curry help activate the body’s energy … hmmm, interesting theory but I eat curry just because I love the stuff!
Aloha, “D”
