“It’s Aloha Friday … no work ’til Monday!” Even though it’s still Thursday back home, it’s Friday for us here in Japan and the end of another busy week. And instead of Lulu’s and Kani Ka Pila this weekend, it’s Riki Riki Deli and the Ukulele Super Jam … so we’re still gigging but in a slightly different location! Then we fly back to Hawai’i on Monday … Yippee! I really love Japan, but Hawai’i is my home and I miss Carla and the puppies!
Yesterday we had a great shabu shabu lunch with our pals, the Taguchis, at a restaurant near Shimbashi Station. They practically had to roll us out of the restaurant because we ate way too much … again! Mahalo, Aiko and Yoshiaki, and don’t forget – IIXO!
Later that evening, we attended the grand opening of the new HTJ offices and ran into friends Mike McCartney and David Uchiyama of the Hawai’i Tourism Authority, and also DJ Kamasami Kong. The food was catered from a place in Akasaka called Ogo’s and it was really ono! I especially loved their poke (which, but the way, won the Sam Choy’s Poke Contest a couple of years ago) and also their kalua pork & cabbage. You should check ’em out … I think they’re located in Akasaka somewhere.
We have a rehearsal later this morning before going to an interview with Hula Le’a magazine … then it’s off to Chigasaki for a performance at Riki Riki Deli. Take care …
Aloha, “D”
