Aloha, everyone! It’s Monday here in Tokyo and the start of our final week in Japan, but more importantly, it’s Mother’s Day in Hawai’i! So .. HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY everyone!! It’s been quite hectic so far with numerous performances, interviews, and appearances, but the boys & I have been very fortunate to have so many opportunities! I slept in late today for the first time on this trip … till 10:30am! Well, I actually got up at 6am and then went back to sleep …
We had a really nice time at the Kases BBQ last night … we hadn’t seen Akio & Eriko for quite a while so it was good to finally visit with them. They live in the Kita-Kamakura area and it’s so peaceful and quiet – quite a difference from downtown Tokyo! Kase-san also let Nick borrow his guitar for our two performances this week … mahalo, Akio! Their daughter, Shiho, is leaving for Hawai’i today and will spending 3 months on the Big Island.
We’re going to pay a visit to Birdland in Akasaka this evening, but other than that, we have the rest of the day open. I think I’m going to go take a walk in the park next to our hotel … I could use the exercise! I am going to be SO out of shape by the time I get back next week – they’re going to kill me on the squash court!
Aloha, “D”
