Wednesday, Jan. 6th

Good morning!  It’s Wednesday and we just had our first rainfall here in Manoa for 2010, which is unusual since it usually rains quite frequently here in the valley.  I think this year is going to be very dry year for Hawai’i so we’d better be prepared for possible droughts later this year.  Our puppies hate the rain – they refuse to go outside to pee even if it’s only a drizzle, so I have to practically kick them out the door!

Yesterday was my nephew Michael’s birthday and I can still remember the day he was born.  I had just started my freshman year at Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon, when my sister Pat called me with the good news early in the morning.  Today, Mike is a 4th grade teacher and is the girl’s varsity basketball head coach at Punahou, his alma mater … he’s also married and has two beautiful kids.  I can’t believe how quickly the years have gone by!

Carla & Linda are starting to take down all the Christmas ornaments and putting them away til next year.  It’s kinda sad to see the holiday season end so quickly .. it’s such a happy time for families.

Aloha, The “D”
