Good morning all! It’s Saturday and the northerly winds are making things a bit cool around here, but it’s still very nice! This was the first time that our little recording studio was warmer inside than outside ’cause it’s usually freezing in there! Carla came home last night after having gall bladder surgery and she seems to be doing just fine! It’s amazing how far medical technology has advanced – she went in yesterday morning and was home by 8am – and this was major surgery! Anyway, we’re all very happy that it’s over and that she can now enjoy the holidays with all of us – especially Buster, Jazz, and Peanut! Thank you all for your kind thoughts and get well messages!
Last night was our last public performance for 2009 and it was awesome! Lulu’s was packed with friends, family, and future MDNA fans and the place was rocking! Last night was also our little Lokahi fundraiser and many people brought gifts or other donations down for the local charity. Our last Lulu’s evening for 2009 was filled with song and dance – mahalo to Trish, Yutaka, Sarah, and Pat, for the lovely hula! Our friends Kale & Anna were there along with Kuniko & Leland (thanks for the shot, brah!) and friends.  Yutaka’s group came dressed up as Santa and his reindeer – hey Misa, were you an elf? – and led the crowd in their now famous “HEY” cheer during CSN’s “Love the One You’re With”. Wakaha and her friend were there enjoying the music and food .. good luck on your final test on Monday, Wakaha! It was also nice to see, Maki & Yoshi, who ran in last Sunday’s Honolulu Marathon and came down to see us before flying back to Japan this morning … thank you for the beautiful photos! Aki & Mitsuhiro from Hiroshima also were there at Lulu’s … we met Aki during last month’s trip to Hiroshima when performed at the Mayor’s Farewell Reception. I swear, she performed the hula to one of the fastest versions of Ka Uluwehi O Ke Kai I’ve ever heard .. and I mean it was super FAST!
There were so many other friends who were there last night – too many to list in this blog – and I sincerely want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for coming down and being a part of our ManoaDNA ohana!
Now it’s back to the studio to finish up some recording before the New Year … let the good times roll, baby!!!
Much aloha, “D”
