It’s Mark’s birthday!

‘Morning all!  It’s Sunday, Dec. 6th, and I’m about to go play squash before we take our bass player, Mark, to his surprise birthday party downtown.  We told him that we had a gig today so I don’t think he suspects anything .. I hope!  Mark turns 41 today, which is an important birthday for Japanese men commonly known as his yakudoshi. Here in Hawai’i, we celebrate this event with a big party, while in Japan I was told that the day is spent going to the temple to pray for good fortune.  Hmmm, let’s see … praying at a temple or partying with your family and friends.  Gee, praying sounds much more fulfilling – NOT!  You should know us local boys by now … love to PARRRTAYYYY!!

Bummer … U.H. Warriors were killed last night by the Wisconsin Badgers in football.  The Warriors tried their best but you could tell from the start that they were no match for Wisconsin’s Big Ten-style football.  So U.H.’s football season has finally come to an end – no Aloha Bowl – but they should be proud of what they’ve been able to accomplish this season, especially with all the injuries they suffered along the way.  We’re proud of you guys .. GO ‘BOWS!!

Aloha, “D”
