What’s going on ?! …

We’ve lost so many great people lately, including Michael Jackson who passed away yesterday.  Say what you want about him, but that guy was one of the greatest entertainers I’ve ever seen and he brought joy to millions of his fans around the world.  I remember when he first started out as the lead singer of the Jackson Five when he was only 10 or 11 years old – he was incredible even back then!  Looking back, however, I really felt sorry for this little boy who was thrust into the spotlight at such a young age and never got to enjoy growing up as a normal kid … maybe that’s why he had problems later in his life.  Everyone needs some sort of balance in their lives whether you’re Michael Jackson or the guy next door – too much of one thing could really mess you up.  “Aloha & mahalo, Michael, for sharing your wonderful talent & energy with us for all these years … have a great concert “up there” and say “hi” to my dad if you see him!”

Last night I went down to the Elks Club in Waikiki to listen to some of my friends who play Hawaiian music.  This place is great – very laid back and VERY local – almost seems out of place since it’s located right on Waikiki beach between the plush hotels and multi-million $$ condos!  Anyway, we all had a great time and plan to go back again soon to check out some of the other Hawaiian entertainment.

And we’ll be performing at Lulu’s tonight which means that the weekend is officially here!  Can’t wait to have a few beers and jam with my boys!!

Happy Aloha Friday, everyone!!
