Gordon Biersch Restaurant, Lanai Bar
ManoaDNA will, once again, be hosting a toy & fundraising drive benefiting Hawai’i families! Saturday, December 14th, at the Gordon Biersch Restaurant Lanai Bar at the Aloha Tower Marketplace, ManoaDNA and volunteers will be on-hand collecting toys and donations to be donated to the Toys for Tots Foundation.
Jump to the bottom of the page for the list of details, or read on about our featured charity!
What is the mission of Keiki O Ka Aina? The Mission of Keiki O Ka `Ä€ina Family Learning Centers (KOKA-FLC) is to educate children, strengthen families, enrich communities and perpetuate culture.
We do this by communicating the vital importance of education, advocating for literacy, supporting parents as their child’s first and best teacher, and empowering families to undertake leadership roles in their communities. All of this is done within the context of Hawaiian language, traditions and culture.
How can you help? ManoaDNA and volunteers will be collecting toys and donations throughout the months of November and December. You can help in any of three ways!
1. Come down to Gordon Biersch [map link] on December 14th from 5:30pm to 9:00pm and drop off your toy personally. Every person who makes a donation will qualify to win prizes (see below for details on the raffle). While you are there, don’t forget to enjoy the great food and drink from Gordon Biersch while enjoying live music throughout the night! Gordon Biersch will be donating $5 to each donator to get you started!
2. If you can’t make it down to the concert that night, you can still help by donating online! Using our preset Amazon.com “wish list” or your favorite online toy retailer, you can purchase donations and have it shipped to us! IOLANI on Kona Street has volunteered to be the ship-to location, so you can easily send your donation directly to us! We have setup a page explaining exactly how to do this here! Please ship by December 9th to ensure delivery for the toy drive.
3. Drop off your toy at IOLANI on Kona Street from now until December 14th. They have graciously volunteered to be our ship-to and drop-off locations for donations this year, and they are conveniently located. Near the Ala Moana Center, between Pi’ikoi & Pensacola at 1234 Kona St. [map link], on the second floor.
Your donation will help Hawai’i’s families! We know times are tough and there are a lot of charities and events this time of year that deserve your attention. We want to truly thank you for supporting our small toy drive in whatever capacity you decide to do so. We started this event last year solely with the purpose of helping Hawai’i’s families during the holiday season, and we are proud to continue that purpose this year.
What can I donate? This year, we are not only accepting toy donations, but monetary ones as well. 100% of the toy donations will be collected until December 21st and donated that night directly to the Toys for Tots Foundation. The monetary donations will only be collected that night and be used to purchase raffle tickets. Each raffle ticket will be entered to win thousands of dollars in prizes!
What else will be going on that night? Along with the drive, Gordon Biersch will be running a full operation, serving delicious food and drinks throughout the night. We will also be giving away thousands of dollars in prizes from our raffle giveaway, and on top of that, entertainment will be going on throughout the night, including a free concert featuring Roy Sakuma’s Ukulele Keiki, The Dukes of Surf, Jon Yamasato, Brother Noland, and ManoaDNA.
Prize Giveaways? Thousands of Dollars?! Explain! That’s right, we will be giving away thousands of dollars in prizes from IOLANI on Kona Street, Island Air, Hawaiian Airlines, Hyatt Waikiki, Lulus Waikiki, KoAloha Ukulele, Outrigger Hotels, Hotel Lanai and More! See our up-to date list of prizes we will be giving away that night!
