Aloha kakahiaka, everyone! It’s Sunday here in Japan and I’ve been up since 5am … I always have a tough time with the jet lag both coming and going. And we have to leave for a radio interview at 7am so it’s gonna be another very busy day! We have two performances at Venus Fort in Odaiba and then we’re all going over to Yama-chan to eat Alex’s favorite tebasaki (fried chicken wings). It’s gotta be the best ‘wings ever!
Our Golden Week tour started off with a bang on Friday with our performance at Ikspiari before a standing room-only crowd. The highlight of the show was Nick’s performance of “Welcome to Hawai’i”, a J-pop song written for us by a Japanese composer. Nick really put on the charm and the crowd went wild … in fact, I was so busy watching him that I forgot the chords to the song! Of course, the highlight of the evening for me was seeing all of our Japan fans again … Yutaka, Misa, Mari, Masako, Kiyoko, Hiroyuki (mahalo for the great pictures!), Asami, Yoshiaki, Aiko, Kiku, Bear, Loko, Noriko, Sachiko, Tomomi, Maki, Junji, Kumiko, Shino … the list goes on and on. Mahalo to all of you for coming out to support ManoaDNA … we love you guys and will always do our best to make you proud!
We just got back from doing radio interviews with DJ Junko over at J-Wave and with our old pal, Kamasami Kong over in Roppongi Hills. It was great to see Kong again and I thanked him for keeping us updated on the situation following the March 11th earthquake. I just grabbed some zaru soba from the convenience store near our hotel for breakfast and now have to get ready to head on over to Venus Fort … here we go again!
Aloha, “D”
