Cherry Blossom time in Hawai’i!

The annual Cherry Blossom Festival pageant is being held tonight down at the Hawai’i Theater downtown, where a new “CB” queen will be crowned for 2010!  All the contestants have spent the past several months preparing for this evening so I’m sure they’re all very excited.  And since my family will be attending this gala event, ManoaDNA will not be performing at Kani Ka Pila tonight … sorry!

We performed at the Centerstage @ the Ala Moana Center last night before a very vocal and appreciative crowd.  It was for the center’s Fashion Night which we had also performed for last year.  We’d like to send a big mahalo to Katie and the rest of the Ala Moana staff for taking care of us (especially with the parking!).  After we were done, the boys and I went to eat at Sorabol, a popular Korean restaurant up on Keeaumoku St..  I hadn’t eaten there since our Gordon Biersch days over a year ago, but the food tasted as good as ever!  We loaded up on  kal bi, meat jun, bul go gi, chige, and kim chee, then washed it all down with OB beer!  Yummm!  (I was going to take some pics for this blog, but Alex got first dibs on it for his Facebook wall .. frick!!)  Anyway, Korean food is awesome, but make sure you bring along a couple of mints – the garlic can be a little strong and you don’t want to lose any friends!:-)

I forgot to tell you about this guy who hangs out by the recording studio downtown … I think he’s homeless and a little nuts.  The boys have had brief conversations with him, but I’ve only seen him walking up and down the sidewalk a couple of times.  Anyway, he thinks he’s Samuel L. Jackson, the actor!  The first time the boys told me that, I really thought THE Samuel L. Jackson was outside and was about to run out to get his autograph!  Hilarious!!

Aloha, “D”
