Ongoing thoughts …

‘Morning, everybody! Hope everyone’s week is starting off well … it’s a slow morning for me, but I have a couple of meetings scheduled for this afternoon. Of course, the ongoing crisis in Japan is always a hot topic for discussion since Hawai’i is close to Japan both economically and culturally.

I heard that the situation is still very critical at the damaged nuclear power plant in Fukushima, Japan … I sure hope they get it under control soon or it’ll be a huge environmental catastrophe for Japan and the rest of the world. Our hopes & prayers go out to all those brave workers trying to fix the damage while exposing themselves to the dangerous radiation … please take care, guys!

ManoaDNA is still planning to go up to Japan at the end of April for its annual Golden Week tour with the hope that our music can help lift people’s spirits during these tough times. The only thing that would force us to change our plans would be if the nuclear situation became too dangerous for us to travel. Oh well … as that old saying goes, “hope for the best, but prepare for the worst!” Meanwhile at home, we’ll be performing at 3 benefit concerts before departing for Japan: April 7th on Pakele Live @ 6pm, April 10th at the “Kokua Japan” telethon at the Hilton Hawaiian Village (time tbd), and April 24th at the HJCC (time tbd).

Another Early Start ….

Got up at 4:30am this morning because we had a 6am call time for a video shoot over on Waimanalo Beach. I wasn’t sure whether the shoot was going to happen since it was pouring rain when we left Manoa. However, when we got to Waimanalo the rain had stopped and the weather pretty much held up throughout the session. Then just as we finished loading the stuff back in the car to come home, it started pouring again … it was amazing but kinda spooky too! Mahalo kupuna for being so kind to us and mahalo to Bob, Christian, and Phillip for inviting MDNA to be in the video … can’t wait to see the results!

Well, now that I’m home, I’m starting to feel a bit sleepy … I might take a short nap before heading down to IOLANI. ManoaDNA is also performing this evening at the Hawai’i Japanese Chamber of Commerce (HJCC) member’s reception, so it’ll be another busy day and evening.

Oh yeah, on the way home this morning, we were blessed with a beautiful double rainbow! Check out the pic …

Lulu’s tonight!

Howzit everybody! It’s Friday again … man, this week really flew by didn’t it? We performed for Fashion Night at the Ala Moana Center last night and boy was it humid! We had fun, though, and want to thank Katie and the marketing staff at Ala Moana for inviting us to perform. We’ve got a full weekend ahead with Lulu’s tonight, Kani Ka Pila (KKP) tomorrow night, and MDNA golf on Sunday … then it’s off to Japan early Monday morning! Somewhere in-between I’ve got to find time to run errands and bathe the puppies too! (they really STINK!)
