I Miss Michael Jackson

November 25th, 2009

Last night, 7pm at Ward theaters, I saw “This is It,” the music documentary about Michael Jackson’s preparation for a new tour. The thing that is most sad to me, besides the fact that this great performer is gone, is the HUGE disappointment I felt knowing that this show would never make it to the public. I’m a huge fan of music DVDs and live shows, so I’ve seen what the world can offer, and Michael would have put all of those shows to shame. After every segment, I kept thinking, “Damn! That would’ve been so cool!” The amount of people he would’ve drawn would’ve been record-breaking, the amount of pull he still has is unprecedented and the huge gap he left when he passed away may never be filled.

So this Thanksgiving, I reflect and give thanks. In this world of hi-speed, low-attention media, there will never be another Michael Jackson. Manoa DNA is very lucky to have even a small fraction of faithful fans, and this Thanksgiving I am thankful for each and everyone of you. I know we may never be able to produce a show like I saw last night, but to me that doesn’t matter. Don’t get me wrong, we will never stop working to try to get to that point, but even if I too died today, I would be grateful for what I have experienced. You guys keep this dream going, you guys are what help Manoa DNA grow, and for that, I am thankful a million times over.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone, I hope you all enjoy a safe and stuffed Thanksgiving day.

In Japan!!

September 15th, 2009

We arrived safe and happy in Narita today. It was a long but very calm flight, almost 8 hours! That’s OK, because today we went to the Apple Store in the Ginza, Bic Camera (greatest electronics store ever), and ate ton katsu and drank beer! Overall it was a great day…

Also, while at the Apple Store, we ran into our good friend Vance K from the awesome group Kawaihae!! I guess it is a small world because how do we run into him in all of Japan?!?!?

I took a lot of random videos today too so maybe I’ll try put together a vlog with all my adventures sometime soon. I hope we see you all soon and thanks to everyone who plan to come to JATA and see us in Tokyo!
Aloha!
AK

Fashion Night

September 11th, 2009

We played at the Ala Moana shopping center last night and it was an interesting gig. I think if we wanted to, we could have played the same songs over and over again because people were only walking by haha! It ended up being ok though, and it made me look forward to tonight even more! I hope to see you all at Lulus tonight, or Kani Ka Pila tomorrow! If you can’t make it, watch us as we stream it online through our website!

Aloha,
AK

My Labor Day Purchase

September 7th, 2009

I made a sweet purchase last night at a fundraiser event for our friend’s baseball team. There was a silent auction that went on for about 3 hours and at the end I won my auction! It was pretty fun and I felt good because the money went to the baseball team.

Check out what I bought!!

September 3rd, 2009

Here it is, the VLog from last weekend’s adventure! My dad’s surprise birthday party and the shopping adventure are all in this vlog. It is kind of long, but it’s pretty great, I think I’m getting better at this video editing stuff. Be sure to see the very last scene with my brother when he tells us about his Jamba Juice.

Hope you enjoy!
