Hey everyone!
We just got back from our tour in Japan and we had a great time! I am jet lagged as always, but that doesn’t take away from the great trip and great people we met! At our concerts we played a slideshow of personal pictures of us while everyone arrived to their seats. We wanted to give our fans a chance to see us in a personal setting so we added a lot of personal pictures to the slideshow and let it run for all of our fans to see. I never thought of posting this to the public but one of our fans asked me to do it so I figured why not?!?!

I hope you enjoy it!
Aloha,

Hello everyone!
We returned home this weekend to family and friends and had a great mothers day celebration!
First of all, I want to say thank you to everyone who came out to watch us in japan, it truly was one of the best japan trips I’ve had. Japan needs to smile more these days and I can only hope that our music cheered people up.

After one day of relaxation I had to wake up at 6:30am (1:30am japan time) to take a final exam. Let me tell you that this was not fun at all. I finally went to sleep sometime after 3:30 and woke up tired and groggy. It was a good thing I was pretty prepared for this exam because I was half asleep while taking it. The good news is that I am done with 4/5 of my final classes and am closer to graduation this weekend! I’m so excited!

I’ll be posting more VLOGs this week so be on the lookout for those soon!

Thanks for reading!
Aloha!
AK

Dear ManoaDNA.com Readers,

As most of you know, last week, I entered my design into the SPAM can design contest. Hundreds of entries were submitted for vote, hoping to be featured on the Low Sodium Can in Hawaiʻi. There were a TON of great designs, and I was truly honored to be up for vote with some of Hawaiʻi’s greatest artists!

While being featured on the ballot was a honor in itself, the true gratification is owed to all of you who voted for me. I was overwhelmed by the response from my family & friends and it’s thanks to all of you for spreading the word! I may not have won, but at least I know there are a LOT of people who care about me and want me to do well. That’s something really special, and I will never take that for granted.

So thank you again for voting for me. I hope you truly did enjoy my design, I was very proud of it, and I am extremely satisfied with my participation. Hopefully there’s a next time, because I would love to do it again!

Mahalo gozaimasu!
Nick

P.S. A shout-out to the ladies in Arcadia who read my blog. They stopped me in the hallways specifically to tell me that I do not write enough. Hope this makes up for it!

Hey everyone!
Well, we made it to Sapporo finally. I wasn’t sure how yesterday going to turn out because the night before we had to fly I was up throwing up all night. Not sure what I had, but I was pretty pissed that instead of sleeping and getting rest before a long day on two planes I was laying on the bathroom floor…terrible.
So, since my stomach was all sensitive yesterday, I had to eat crackers for the first 12 hours so I wouldn’t puke on the plane. Let me tell you that during our layover, having to hold back on what I ate in JAPAN was the hardest thing ever! I had to grab one small musubi while my brother grabbed a katsu sandwich, chips, cookies, and soda. So depressed at this point!
I started feeling a lot better when we got to Sapporo after our 13 hour adventure, so i was pretty excited to just go crazy with dinner. We went to set “Jingasu Kan”, which is lamb that is special to Sapporo. I was excited until I realized that I s in the land of Sapporo beer and I shouldn’t drink. Not a big deal because I was tired, but then our friend yelled, “90 minutes!”. It was all you can eat and drink for 90 minutes…depressed all over again…
The good thing though was that I held down all my food and got a good 9 hours of sleep. I am ready to take on Sapporo today! We have 2 shows today that should be fun at the Sapporo Factory, then its on to Tokyo tomorrow for the start of JATA this weekend.

If you guys didn’t get your tickets for our Thumbs Up show on Monday, then please hurry because it’s getting packed!

I didn’t take any pictures yet because I was too tired, but I will start posting lots of pictures on my blog and Facebook and Twitter so keep checking!!

Now I’m off to get my favorite ミルクココア here in Sapporo
Hope to see you all soon!!!!
Aloha,
AK

UPDATE: Just got my MILK COCOA!!

Found my favorite thing in the whole world!

February is shaping up to be a very busy one for Manoa DNA, and we hope you are all excited about what we have coming up for the month. If you haven’t already, check out our schedule for the full list and calendar of our gigs!

As you may have noticed as well, I have updated our front page with our latest music video from Hawaii Tourism Japan. We have partnered with them for the last four years, writing theme songs and performing around Japan. This year, the theme is “Our Hawai’i,” where we invite all people to come and see our Hawai’i. It is a beautiful place, and will be appreciated even more if you experience it from a local’s stand point.

The video is available to watch below. However, if you are a YouTube member, please visit the video and subscribe to our ManoaDNA.tv channel! Mahalo!

Welcome to Nicktown: “Beautiful Hawai’i”
12/2/09
This post dedicated to the short but wonderful memory of Stevie the bird.

Now the title of this blog entry may seem general and overused, but a wave of appreciation has overcome my emotions when I woke up today.

Don’t worry, I won’t bore you with tedious, tear-filled, post-menopausalish details, but let’s just say I realized I don’t take many steps back and appreciate what I have. Try it, it’s weird. That’s all I’ll say about that, and leave you to create your own thoughts.

On a less-serious note (while still beautiful), Hawai’i football is unstoppable (*knock on wood*)!! With the best game of the season (so far) played on Saturday, Hawai’i keeps its slim bowl-game hopes alive. What a game though, and well worth the entire roller coaster of emotions that have summarized this season. Heck, I lost my voice! My precious music-creating voice was taken for granted and now I can barely talk. It was worth it. Now, Hawai’i has to get through nationally ranked (#26 USA Today) Wisconsin Badgers next Saturday and it’s off to the Sheraton Hawai’i Bowl we go! Cross your fingers, send your prayers, and let’s go Warriors!!

Thanksgiving was a great time with the family! Plenty of turkey, stuffing, gravy, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes and more. I didn’t eat as much as I usually do, but that was not due to the quality or quantity of food before me. Instead, I think I took it easy, decided to enjoy the company of my family and take the time to catch up with everyone (something I’ve never done before). What the? Beautiful Hawai’i? Catch up? Not eat? Am I getting soft in my old age?!

Anyway, that’s my report for this Wednesday (hump day) in beautiful Manoa. We have a great series of holiday events coming up this month, so check the schedule and head down!

Happy Holidays Everyone! Be safe and shop!
Nick
