Something in the air…

September 18th, 2007

You smell that? Fresh cookies? No… Fine Perfume? No… I think that’s the smell of a new CD coming out! Yes! It is! Stay tuned as we gear up for the release of our second CD, “No Place Like Home.”

In the meantime, you may notice small changes to our website, and other parts of the Manoa DNA online experience, but stay tuned, as it will all make sense soon.

Also, a quick note, you can now purchase our CD directly online through CDBaby.com or download it straight to iTunes. Yay!

Also, a video has surfaced from Mina@MySpace!

Kona, Vegas ‘n MORE!

September 11th, 2007

Hi y’all,

It’s definitely been a while since we last chatted, so let me get you up to speed. We just returned from a whirlwind visit to the Big Island of Hawai’i for the Kona Farm Fair. It was so fun, and the food was so good, but no animals! That’s right, no animals at a Farm Fair?!? Go figure. Anyway, besides the lack of prize winning cows & the smell of a barn, the Fair was a hit. After we performed, we ate the most tasty foods from the booths! Cannot complain about that! If I lived there, I would go there every night, just to eat! Thanks to all the guys who took care of us, including the Francis’ (Jr. & Sr.) for driving us around, and Craig for the sound. Special thanks goes out to John of Royal Hawaiian Caricatures for drawing the band in full form at the fair…

Besides that, we are gearing up for our trip up to the 8th island, LAS VEGAS! If you haven’t heard, been under a rock, or chewing rocks, we are going to be in Las Vegas at Sam’s Town Hotel & Casino, opening for Cecilio & Kapono! It’s going to be a great show, all part of the pre-game festivities for the University of Hawai’i football game versus UNLV. If you are going to be up in Vegas this weekend, or know someone who will be, come on down to Sam’s Town, Friday September 14th @ 8pm! Tickets can be ordered at Sam’s Town or by calling 1-800-897-8696 or 702-456-7777! See you there!

37th Annual Ukulele Festival! Jack Johnson!

July 23rd, 2007

We had a great time yesterday, playing at the 37th Annual Ukulele Festival at Kapiolani Park. If you didn’t go, BOY OH BOY, did you miss out. Not only did you miss out on Hawai’i's great entertainers like, Holunape, Danny Kaleikini & Manoa DNA, but making a special appearance was Mr. Jack Johnson.

Yes, the man himself, took time out of his schedule to come down and play some tunes with Roy Sakuma’s ukulele band. 300 kids and adults jammed to Jack tunes while Roy partied out on stage!

Making a special appearance with Jack, was Manoa DNA’s very own Alex!

But that made me a little jealous, so I jumped on stage and gave a solo!

No, that didn’t really happen, but I am jealous and know how to use photoshop. So I can imagine…

mySpace Updated! See you tonight!

July 19th, 2007

As I was wondering through the website, I noticed, HEY! where’s our schedule? Didn’t the donkey who designed this (that’s me), put a link to the schedule? Haha, nope. Oh well, many apologies, I have now included a link to our schedule at the top of the page. Hopefully, this will make it easier for those of you who don’t know about our mySpace.

Speaking of which, our mySpace (ourSpace?) has been updated with shows through September and beyond. We have a pretty busy schedule coming up, so check back here often for all the updates!

See you guys tonight at the Kapolei State Farm Fair!
