Happy Invention Day!

Happy Invention Day Japan! Haha, and commemorating the opening night of the original Yankee stadium in 1923, I’m happy to wish you a happy Aloha Friday, the 18th of April!

It’s been a while, hasn’t it? Hope everything in your world is going great! Mine has been so fraught (that’s a word, I think) with business that I haven’t had time to take a breather and write a blog. Usually, I can count on Dad to pick up the slack, but even he has been on hiatus with all the other distractions!

The biggest thing for me has been long nights at work working on the new IOLANI.com website! Thanks to Mom and our good friend Mo, we were able to get up a new template, migrate over from KonaStreet.com and start posting some awesome products! If you get a chance to check it out, let me know what you think in the comments below!

As for “me time,” a couple of friends and I went to Moloka‘i over a weekend to hike Kalaupapa! It was the first time I had been to Moloka‘i since I was a teenager, and the first time I had been to Kalaupapa ever! It was an awesome experience and I have my friends to thank for dragging me along (literally, that hike back up was hard!)

Kalaupapa Trail Head

The most amazing thing was learning about the history of this beautiful place and all the hard work and sacrifice it takes to survive. I highly recommend visiting Kalaupapa if you have a chance. Don’t hike like I did, unless you’re a billy goat, and either take a mule ride or fly in on a charter. It’s worth the experience, and worth learning about this difficult time in Hawai‘i history.

ALOHA!
